What is hip bursitis?
Hip bursitis is when a small, fluid-filled sac in your hip, called a bursa, gets irritated and swollen. Bursae are like tiny cushions that help your muscles and tendons glide smoothly over your bones.
You have a few bursae around your hip, but the one that usually causes trouble is on the outer side of your hip, over the bony point you can feel. When this bursa gets inflamed, it can cause pain over your hip, especially when you press on it, lie on that side, or get up from a chair.
While I can’t diagnose your condition, it’s important to see a doctor if you have hip pain. They can figure out what’s going on and recommend the best treatment for you.
