What is an ankle sprain?
An ankle sprain is like a sudden stretching or tearing of the strong bands (ligaments) that hold the bones in your ankle together. Imagine these ligaments are like rubber bands; if they’re stretched too far, they can fray or even snap.
This usually happens when your ankle twists or rolls awkwardly, like during a fall, a misstep, or while playing sports. You might feel pain, tenderness, swelling, and bruising around your ankle.
It’s important to remember that I can’t diagnose your ankle problem without examining it. If you think you might have a sprain, it’s crucial to see a doctor or a physical therapist. They can determine the severity and recommend the right treatment plan for you.
